EP87 - So What's Been Happening? - Joyce Prescher
We catch up for a show favourite Joyce Prescher who after falling in love with the exquisite George Lane earlier this year, is coming back with band to launch her new album Out Of My Mind. Losing yourself, your mind, a loved one, then slowly piecing yourself back together to find your way back to yourself Out of my mind is an intimate, soul-baring record by the folk artist, spanning a total of 13 tracks. On the record Joyce reveals much of her inner world, with themes that encompass love, heartbreak, loss and healing. It comes after a turbulent time in the songwriter’s life, a time in which life was turned up side down and inside out, leaving nothing as it once was. Joyce alongside her full band will launch this stunning album at George Lane, on November 30th.

EP80 - So What's Been Happening? - Rodney 'BALLS' Grinter
SPECIAL GUEST - Former Melbourne Demon Defender Rod Grinter is most remembered for an incident early in the 1988 VFL season when he struck Footscray's Terry Wallace in the face with his forearm, where he received a six week suspension for 'bringing the game into disrepute' and finished the year in Melbourne's losing Grand Final side against Hawthorn. He was also suspended in 1990 for nine matches for eye-gouging and striking against Essendon at Windy Hill. Grinter was involved in another famous incident in the previous season's Preliminary Final against the same opponents. He was the man on the mark when Jim Stynes ran between him and Gary Buckenara which resulted in a free kick and goal to win after the siren from Buckenara.
What a moment in time.... After playing most of his career in defence, Grinter was moved into the forward line in 1993 and retired from AFL the following season. He played 134 games for Melbourne and kicked 57 goals. Rod has dedicated a large portion of his time post playing career to bonding the Demon's Past Players Group and we will discuss the current crop of Premiership Winning Demons and what the 2021 Premiership success has meant to the club after 57 years.
Some quotes from 1980... "Do or do not, there is no try." - Yoda "I am your father" - Darth Vader
Album of the Year in 1980... Zenyatta Mondatta - The Police
Song of the Year in 1980... Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

EP79 - So What's Been Happening? - Katie Bates
Melbourne Americana singer-songwriter Katie Bates has been performing live for over a decade. Obsessed and inspired by the music of the classic and alternative country artists from the 1960s and 70s. Katie’s songs brim with honesty and more than a hint of grunge and grit. She brings an attitude to the table that is seldom seen in the Americana/roots scene - a fire in the belly that simmers beneath a sweet surface of a gifted storyteller. Since immersing herself in the vibrant Melbourne alt-country/Americana scene, Katie has performed as a backing vocalist and occasional opening act for artists such as Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes, James Ellis and The Jealous Guys and Ben Mastwyk. She has also opened for the likes of Andrew Swift, Tracy McNeil and most recently touring the East Coast supporting American singer-songwriter Hannah Aldridge. Katie’s sound pays respect to the likes of Gillian Welch, Tom Petty, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris but also leans heavily from Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Alanis Morissette and Audioslave.

Tune in to the show Monday 15th August from 8.30pm AEST for a chat and a few tunes LIVE with Katie Bates. See you then.
